Overview

Culture Connect is an interactive site supporting the Cultural Visitors Program (developed in partnership with Kennedy Center Education Department and the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs).

Suggested Use

Culture Connect allows students to “tag along” with performing artists as they visit the United States and learn about their art form. Along the way, students are also presented with information about the artists’ home country and their culture. Through diverse media, such as video, audio, photos and text, the students will share the experience of cultural exchange through an exploration of the performing arts.

  • Review the people the visitors meet and the places they visit while in the United States. Discuss with your students why these people and places would be significant to an actor, dancer, or musician.
  • Discuss what opportunities the visitors might have in their home country, and what new opportunities open up by visiting other countries.
  • Discuss with your students art forms they are interested in, and how their understanding of that art form could be enhanced by cultural exchange.

Technical Requirements

This interactive requires the Flash Player 9.124 (or more recent). Speakers are needed for audio (headphones are recommended for use in group settings like libraries or computer labs).
