Unit Overview:

This curriculum unit introduces students to the elements of fiction and writing techniques used in writing fiction. This unit follows the Dimensions of Learning model: declarative and procedural knowledge is extended and refined through a variety of activities that assist students in higher order thinking skills. The meaningful use of knowledge is exhibited in the original work of fiction each student will write. Throughout the unit, students will be given many opportunities to make choices and initiate tasks as they write their own fiction.
